Joining a syndicate is the
affordable way of either learning to fly a balloon or enjoying your
hobby. A share is available in G-BFUZ. The kit comprises a Cameron Viva
77 in great flying condition, a Cameron swept top basket, Mk4 super
burner, six tanks, fan, radios, altimeter and maps. All are kept in a
low mileage M Reg LWB Transit van retrieve vehicle which is included in
the share.
The syndicate currently includes three pilots (one instructor) &
2 PuTs. Current members are in Martin Axon (Brentwood), Andy Mac (Southend),
Jim Lawson (Chelmsford), Tony Axon (Glasgow) and Jonathon Mason of
Gordon Bennet fame (Kent). If you are interested don’t let geography
rule you out! A share is valued at £2000 + a monthly payment of £40 to
cover insurance etc. If you leave the syndicate you get your share value back. To keep
things fair and to cover wear and tear there is also a flying fee of
£20/hr and a van mileage charge. Since these are usually shared between
those in the basket they are minimal.
